Are you a Java technologist with full stack development skills? You could be progressing your career in a hands-on, impactful Full Stack Engineer role, working on a "tech for good" product that is helping to drive efficiencies for the NHS. The core product is a highly complex real-time shift rota application, hosted on AWS and available via the web or mobile device (iOS / Android).
As a Full Stack Engineer, you will play a crucial role in re-architecting and enhancing the scheduling platform to a Java and Angular codebase (from Ruby and TypeScript). You'll have a 50/50 split between backend and frontend projects, from designing and developing scalable backend Java services and REST APIs, writing and optimising SQL database queries through to creating user-friendly interfaces using Angular (v15+).
You'll input into technical discussions and decision making as a senior member of a small team where you'll be able to influence best practice and technology choices.
Location / WFH: You’ll join colleagues in the London, City based offices 3-4 days a week with some flexibility to work from home 1-2 days.
About you:
- You have strong Java backend software development skills including Spring Boot.
- You have experience with relational databases and SQL query writing.
- You have a strong understanding of REST APIs, real-time systems, CI/CD.
- You're comfortable working with legacy Ruby.
- You have a strong knowledge of software engineering best practices and Agile development methodologies.
- You have experience in start-ups or SMEs with a variety of responsibilities.
- You're collaborative and pragmatic with great communication skills, happy to mentor and develop others.
- You're degree educated in Computer Science or similar technical discipline, gained at a top tier university.
