Would you like to join a scale‑up technology company in an influential role where you can take ownership and see the business impact of what you do? You could be progressing your career as a Lead Backend Engineer, working on complex systems for the core product, a financial operating system for live events which reduces queue times for customers and maximises revenue for vendors.

What you'll do:

  • Lead sprint planning and delivery, ensuring predictable, high‑quality output
  • Set and enforce engineering standards and Definition of Done across all work
  • Act as technical lead; design solutions, review code and drive best practices
  • Own CI/CD quality gates, testing strategy and codebase improvements
  • Take responsibility for production reliability, monitoring and incident response
  • Drive post‑release validation and continuous improvement
  • Coach and mentor engineers, supporting growth and performance
  • Lead technical hiring and identify skill gaps within the team
  • Ensure secure coding practices and compliance across all deliverables

Location / WFH: Initially (first 6 months) you'll be expected to join the team in the London office 3‑4 days a week so you can get a full understanding of the product and the team, following this there's lots of flexibility including the ability to work abroad for part of the year.

About you:

  • You have a strong hands‑on, backend engineering background with leadership experience
  • You have expertise with Node.js combined with strong PostgreSQL database skills
  • You have experience of owning delivery end‑to‑end in Agile environments
  • You have a passion for code quality, reliability and team development
  • You have experience of working with cloud platforms, CI/CD and modern architectures
  • You have a strong appreciation of security best practices
