Intermediate / Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Leicester Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
The Opportunity
I'm currently working with an independently owned, established Building Services and MEP Design Consultancy based in Leicester, who are looking to expand their mechanical engineering team following a significant amount of new project work coming into the business.
This is an excellent time to join, with a growing pipeline of projects and the opportunity to become part of a friendly, collaborative team delivering technically interesting developments across the UK.
The consultancy provides mechanical, electrical and public health engineering design, alongside energy, sustainability and BIM services. They work across a diverse range of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, retail, hospitality and heritage.
With an established reputation for delivering innovative, commercially aware and environmentally sustainable engineering solutions, they offer an environment where engineers are encouraged to develop, take ownership and progress their careers.
The Role
Due to continued growth and an influx of new work, they are looking to recruit an Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Leicester office.
Depending on your experience, you will be involved in the design and delivery of mechanical building-services projects, working alongside an experienced team of engineers and directors.
Responsibilities will include:
- Delivering mechanical building-services design across a variety of projects.
- Producing mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, reports and technical drawings.
- Working across HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and public health systems.
- Taking projects through the various RIBA stages, from concept and detailed design through to construction.
- Working collaboratively with electrical engineers, architects, structural engineers and other design consultants.
- Attending design meetings and liaising with clients, contractors and wider project teams.
- Supporting project delivery, ensuring designs are technically robust, commercially viable and delivered to programme.
- Using Revit and other relevant design software to produce and coordinate engineering information.
- Depending on experience, taking responsibility for projects, managing workloads and supporting more junior members of the team.
About You
They are open to speaking with both Intermediate and Senior Mechanical Engineers, with the level of responsibility and salary reflecting your experience.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience working within a Building Services or MEP Design Consultancy.
- A strong understanding of mechanical building-services design.
- Experience with HVAC, heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and Building Regulations.
- Experience working across different stages of the design process.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience using Revit would be advantageous.
- A proactive approach with the ambition to develop your technical and project management capabilities.
Why Join?
- Join an independently owned and established MEP consultancy.
- Be part of a growing business with a significant amount of new project work coming in.
- Work across a varied portfolio of projects rather than being restricted to one sector.
- Opportunity to develop your technical skills and take on greater project responsibility.
- Work alongside an experienced director-level team with a hands-on approach.
- Join a friendly, collaborative working environment where engineers are encouraged to develop.
- Opportunities for professional development and progression, including support towards professional registration.
- Work on projects with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability and energy-efficient design.
