The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join a growing, independent building services consultancy based in Leicester.

With an established presence across Leicester, Birmingham and London, the business has ambitious growth plans and is looking to strengthen its Leicester team with an additional Electrical Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with around 3-5 years' experience who is looking to take the next step in their career, gain greater project responsibility and develop within a business that genuinely invests in its people.

Unlike larger corporate consultancies, this business offers a more personal working environment, direct access to senior leadership and a clear pathway for career progression, with opportunities to progress towards Senior, Associate and ultimately Director level.

The Role

Working alongside an established team of engineers, you will be involved in delivering a varied portfolio of building services projects across multiple sectors.

  • Designing and delivering electrical building services solutions across a range of projects.
  • Producing electrical design calculations, specifications and technical reports.
  • Working on lighting, power, small power, fire alarm and other electrical building services systems.
  • Supporting projects from initial concept and design through to detailed design and delivery.
  • Coordinating with mechanical engineers, architects, contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Attending design meetings and contributing to project discussions.
  • Taking increasing ownership of your own projects and responsibilities.
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and best practice.

The project portfolio includes education, residential, Ministry of Justice, prison and fire improvement schemes, providing exposure to a diverse range of technically interesting projects.

What We're Looking For

  • A background in electrical building services design.
  • Experience producing electrical designs and calculations.
  • Good knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Competent with relevant design software.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take on additional responsibility.
  • Someone ambitious who is keen to develop their technical skills and progress their career.

Candidates with more experience will also be considered.

What's on Offer?

  • Clear career progression: A genuine opportunity to progress towards Senior, Associate and Director-level positions.
  • Potential share ownership: Opportunities to become more involved in the business as you develop.
  • 9-day fortnight: Enjoy every other Friday off, giving you a three-day weekend every two weeks.
  • Hybrid working: Typically four days in the office and one day working from home.
  • Private healthcare: Bupa private medical insurance, with the option to include family members.
  • Enhanced pension: Employer pension matching of up to 10%, subject to the company's contribution structure.
  • Annual bonus: Discretionary bonus
  • Supportive environment: Work closely with experienced engineers and senior leadership in a collaborative, growing consultancy.
  • Varied projects: Exposure to a diverse range of sectors and technically challenging schemes.

Why Join?

If you're an Electrical Engineer who feels you've reached a ceiling in your current position, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

You'll be joining a growing consultancy where your contribution is recognised, your development is encouraged and progression is genuinely achievable.

Rather than being another number in a large organisation, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference, take ownership of projects and help shape the future of the business.
