We are recruiting for a SAP Basis Specialist for a leading Aerospace organisation based in Filton, this is a hybrid role with 3 days a week on site, 2 days WFH.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis Specialist with hands‑on expertise in technical delivery, landscape operations, and SAP HANA administration.
In this role, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end operational readiness, monitoring, change management, and security of our multi‑tier SAP landscape across Development, Quality Assurance, and Production environments.
You will work closely with cross‑functional technical teams, functional consultants, and global business stakeholders within an Agile/Scrum framework to ensure maximum system availability, optimal performance, and strict adherence to security and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities System Administration & Landscape Operations
- Manage full-life cycle SAP Basis Support operations, including daily administration, system refreshes, Kernel upgrade planning, and Pre/post-refresh activities.
- Administer, monitor, and optimize the SAP HANA database landscape.
- Execute end‑to‑end Incident Management, Problem Management, and Service Request fulfillment.
- Resolve complex system runtime errors, dump analysis, database lock contentions, and process SAP OSS notes and standard system modifications.
- Discuss and align with counterparts regarding technical activities.
- Transport & Change Management
- Oversee the SAP Transport Management System (TMS/Cha RM), managing transport imports and analysing technical issues to ensure high operational stability.
- Implement technical system changes, plan Support Packages (SPS) and Enhancement Packages (EHP), and system patches in alignment with Change Advisory Board (CAB) standards.
- Performance Tuning & Infrastructure
- Perform in-depth root cause analysis (RCA) and performance tuning across ABAP, Java, and Database layers (ST04, ST03N, ST22, SMLG, SM51, SM66).
- Manage system integrations and interface architecture (including RFC destinations, ALE/IDoc interfaces, ICF nodes, and HTTPS configurations).
- Analyse EWA Reports and implement recommendations based on the technical analysis.
- Security, Compliance & Governance
- Maintain SAP system security baseline configurations, SSL/TLS certificate updates, network security parameters and SAP Router configurations.
- Required Technical Skills
- Experience: Candidate dedicated SAP Basis/Net Weaver administration experience within enterprise environments or SAP technical consultancy.
- SAP Platform Expertise: Proven track record managing SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Suite on HANA (So H), and Legacy ECC 6.0/Solution Manager environments.
- Database Management: Expert knowledge of SAP HANA 2.0 administration via ST04, HANA Cockpit & HANA Studio
- Upgrades & Maintenance: Practical experience with SAP Software Update Manager (SUM) and System Refreshes.
- Service Management: Experience utilizing ITSM tools (eg, Service Now, SAP Solution Manager/Cha RM, One Version).
Desirable/Preferred Skills (Market Advantage)
- Familiarity with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) connectivity and Cloud Connector
- Exposure to SAP Fiori, SAPUI5 Front End and OData service configuration.
