Recruiting a Principal Engineer to lead and evolve our clients' Core Enterprise Platforms, with deep expertise in IBM i and IBM Z. This is a senior, hands-on role owning platform stability, performance, and resilience across business-critical systems for a global function. Client is looking for continuity for this 2-year programme.
The Role
- Act as technical authority for IBM i and IBM Z platforms
- Lead capacity management, performance tuning, and scalability planning
- Advise/challenge and implement good DevOps practices
- Own backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategy and execution
- Ensure high availability, resilience, and operational excellence
- Drive platform standards, architecture decisions, and technical roadmaps
- Resolve complex incidents and mentor senior engineers
Required skills and experience
- 5+ years principal/senior engineering position
- Extensive experience with IBM i and IBM Z (Mainframe)
- Strong background in capacity planning and performance management
- Proven expertise in backup, recovery, and DR for enterprise platforms
- Experience operating large-scale, mission-critical environments
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A background in Financial Services would be nice but not mandatory
