Salary: £13.25ph

Location: MK42, Bedford

Hours: Monday-Friday- 9am - 5pm Till July 2025 (possibility of extension)

The post needs to be able to go out to sites across the Borough and sort out problems on all the days of the week that we make collections i.e. Monday-Friday. Build ups of waste are a public health issue and must be dealt with within 24hrs.

Job Purpose

  • To encourage the involvement of all sections of the community in recycling and composting schemes and to actively seek to increase public usage of Borough waste services via introduction of new schemes, a coordinated door stepping campaign and other promotional activities.
  • To actively promote waste minimisation.
  • To monitor the performance of waste collection schemes across the Borough through street audits.
  • To ensure that clean, good quality materials arise from the Kerbside schemes and data is maintained for participation levels, tonnage's and levels of service.
  • To assist in the monitoring of waste contracts and contracted sites/activities by conducting inspections and liaising with contractors representatives.
  • Provide recommendations and advice to Planning Team and developers in accordance with the Councils waste policies.
