Principal Planning Policy Officer

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the East of England in the search for a Principal Planning Policy Officer to join their Town Planning department on a 6 month initial contract.   The role will require you to undertake complex work in relation to the preparation of the councils plan including: ·Reviewing and interpreting complex evidence base documents and formulating policies that respond to the outcomes of that evidence. ·Undertaking analysis of data and information to create evidence to support plan making and decision taking. This includes statutory reporting. ·Advising members of the options and challenges they need to address through the plan and incorporating their feedback into policies. ·Drafting of policies and their justification. ·Drafting planning guidance. ·Reviewing engagement outcomes and adjusting policies to reflect those outcomes. ·Presenting evidence in writing and in person in respect of the plan.   The post holder will be required to deal with a wide range of complex technical work to support the preparation of a new Local Plan. Experience in a similar position is necessary. It would be beneficial to hold a Post-graduate degree in planning, regeneration or a related discipline, and have the eligibility for membership of RTPI.   The council are looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground runni…
