Manchester City Council is looking to recruit a Blue Badge Assessor to join their Assessment Team within the Children & Families Directorate. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to work in a clinic-based setting, supporting citizens through the Blue Badge application process. The role pays £30-£32 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

Main Duties for the Blue Badge Assessor include:

  • Carrying out triage and in-person mobility assessments for individuals applying under the 'subject to further assessment' Blue Badge criteria.
  • Assessing applicants in line with Department for Transport Local Authority Guidance, considering both physical and non-visible (hidden) conditions.
  • Issuing and recommending walking aids and equipment during assessments, as appropriate.
  • Signposting citizens to additional services and resources to support independence and well-being.
  • Collaborating with external agencies and internal teams to ensure consistent and holistic support.
  • Maintaining up-to-date and accurate manual and electronic records in line with service standards.
  • Recognising and escalating safeguarding or mental capacity concerns as necessary.
