Financial Controller

We are recruiting exclusively on behalf of a growing, entrepreneurial SME in Nottingham who are seeking their first Financial Controller. This is a newly created position driven by sustained business growth, and offers the opportunity to take full ownership of the finance function across multiple entities. Reporting directly to the owner-managers, the successful candidate will lead on all aspects of management accounting, reporting and compliance, while also being happy to support with day-to-day transactional finance when needed. You will have one direct report, with responsibility for mentoring and developing their skillset. This is a hands-on role in a business that values initiative, reliability and a proactive approach.

The Role:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reporting and commentary for the Directors
• Managing and developing one direct report
• Overseeing transactional finance, including purchase and sales ledger, payment runs and bank reconciliations
• Responsibility for VAT, CIS and payroll compliance across the group
• Cash flow forecasting and financial planning
• Supporting commercial decision-making with clear financial insights
