We are hiring a Communications Systems Engineer with a strong background in Software-Defined Radio (SDR) to design and integrate high-performance communication architectures, protocols, and network topologies.Youll work at the intersection of mission systems and advanced digital communications, contributing to projects that shape the UKs strategic capabilities. The role is fully onsite in Gloucester and offers the flexibility of a 4-day workweek (Fridays off), subject to business requirements.Key Responsibilities Design SDR architectures optimised for scalability, performance, and reliability Develop and implement communication interfaces and protocols across platforms Model and design network topologies for seamless data exchange and interoperability Integrate SDR systems into wider mission solutions alongside cross-functional teams Ensure compliance with communication standards (TCP/IP, IEEE 802, mobile networks, FEC) Conduct thorough system testing and validation across all communication layers
