Reporting to the COO, the Head of Delivery will lead the delivery function within a professional services organisation, with overall responsibility for successful, profitable project delivery, customer satisfaction, quality management, and continuous improvement.
The role involves leading a team of senior consultants, overseeing project resourcing, revenue and margin performance, customer escalations, and delivery governance across a portfolio of projects.
You will drive the implementation of delivery methodologies, systems, and processes to improve consistency, quality, resource forecasting, and operational efficiency.
Working closely with Sales and Delivery teams, you will support project estimation, customer engagement, and the successful transition of opportunities into delivery.
The role also includes ownership of delivery standards, ISO processes, project documentation, PSA/project management tools, and the development of new consulting and delivery services.
A proportion of the role will remain client-facing and billable, requiring hands‑on involvement in project delivery.
Key Requirements
- Previous consultancy experience is essential, ideally gained within a Big 4 consultancy, systems integrator, or professional services environment.
- Proven pre‑sales experience within a testing, QA, consultancy, or professional services environment, including solution shaping, project estimation, resource planning, and supporting business development activities.
- 7+ years' experience leading IT project delivery within consulting, systems integration, or professional services organisations.
- 5+ years managing consulting or delivery teams.
- Strong experience delivering projects and managing a portfolio of engagements, with a background focused on QA/testing delivery within larger transformation programmes.
- Deep understanding of project lifecycles, testing methodologies, delivery best practices, and risk management.
- Experience developing and delivering Test Process Improvement services and initiatives.
- Proven track record delivering profitable, complex projects, ideally involving Oracle Fusion, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards, or other enterprise platforms.
- Demonstrable experience with P&L ownership or responsibility for achieving profitable project delivery and margin targets.
Strong commercial acumen, including pricing professional services, revenue forecasting, resource planning, and maintaining project profitability as engagements evolve.
- Practical experience and understanding of PSA software tools and project management platforms such as Kantata and Jira.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively from project teams through to C‑suite executives.
- Comfortable operating both strategically and tactically, with the ability to drill into detailed project issues while also presenting confidently to senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of Agile, hybrid, and other delivery methodologies.
This is a senior leadership role requiring a combination of delivery excellence, consultancy expertise, commercial leadership, pre‑sales capability, operational management, customer engagement, and hands‑on project oversight.
