The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional sales leader to join our team as Area Vice President (AVP) of Strategic Sales for the UK&I Region. In addition to requisite passion, skills and experience, the successful candidate will have a measurable track record in building and managing high performing sales organisations. This individual will play a key role driving a significant share of revenue for Splunk, selling to the largest UK&I based organisations in the World. This individual would be located in our London office.

Role and Responsibility:

  1. Directly manage the UK&I Strategic Sales team and work closely with assigned technical resources, inside sales and supporting functions.
  2. Must possess strong leadership skills and the ability to build a complex sales strategy to ensure both short and long term goals and objectives; customer success should be at the heart of any strategy.
  3. Identify, scope out and evaluate key growth opportunities and existing capabilities, determine appropriate sales and marketing strategy and develop a roadmap that will achieve the objectives in the shortest period of time.
  4. Meet and/or exceed quarter quota assignment consistently.
  5. Unearth customer insights and determine segmentation, determine value proposition, and put into place sales force structure and sales process strategies and strategic resource plan that will capture the key growth opportunities in target markets throughout the Region.
  6. Effectively manage territory by considering each and all accounts collectively; establish accurate plans and forecasts; prioritize efforts; generate short-term results while holding a long-term perspective to maximize overall territory viability.
  7. Monitor and control the activities and performance of staff under supervision, setting expectations and providing guidance and direction as needed; ensure that managers do the same for their staff.
  8. Maintain market and competitor intelligence and develop proactive strategies to maintain the Company’s competitiveness.
  9. Lead the virtual team technical services, marketing, market specialization and professional services building a sense of urgency and camaraderie.
  10. Consistently deliver aggressive license, support and service revenue targets – commitment to the number and to deadlines.
  11. Leverage sales engineering as well as partner service resources.
  12. Player/coach, hands on with the team; very involved with account planning, strategy and sales calls.
  13. Hire the right team to match our growth.
  14. Use our sales methodology and processes effectively.
  15. Good corporate citizen – two way flow of relevant and timely information; work as a team for the most efficient use and deployment of resources.
  16. Provide timely and insightful input back to other corporate functions, particularly product management and marketing.

Requirements:

  1. 5 years experience building and running front line sales teams; ability to grow and scale upward with the company.
  2. Second line management experiences highly desirable.
  3. 10 years direct and channel selling experience.
  4. Very comfortable in the “C” suite with a track record of closing six and seven figure software licensing deals.
  5. Strong executive presence and polish.
  6. Forecasting commitments and forecasting accuracy.
  7. Exceptional management, interpersonal, written and presentation skills.
  8. Thrives in a fast-paced, high growth, rapidly changing environment.
  9. Able to work independently and remotely from other members of your team and corporate.
  10. Relevant software industry experience in IT systems, enterprise or infrastructure management.
  11. Use CRM systems (Sales Force) extensively.
  12. Ability to recruit A players.

Education and experience requirements:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; MBA a plus.
