A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented and motivated individual to take on the role of Staff Officer to the ACC for Regional Collaboration and Transformation across Cleveland, Durham and Northumbria. The role is open to those at the rank of Inspector (or on promotion pathway to Inspector) or police staff. We are looking to find the best fit for the role based on current skills, knowledge and behaviours, rather than being specific to grade or rank. We therefore welcome applications from colleagues who feel they meet the essential criteria detailed below.

The role profile will take into account the current grade of the individual and the skills and experience they have that aligns to the role. This role will be based within the Northumbria Police force area, however, will require frequent travel to Cleveland and Durham either independently or with the ACC. The role supports agile working, with a mix of office-based and remote working in line with service needs.

Contract: 37 hours per week for Police Staff and 40 hours per week for Police Officers, 2 year secondment (potential for the position to be extended). This is a high-profile opportunity to support the ACC in leading the region’s response to national policing reform, evolving governance, and future service models, at a pivotal time for policing.

Role Overview

You will work directly with the ACC, supporting the delivery of a North East Transition Strategy. The role will involve coordinating activity across the three forces and engaging with chief officers, senior leaders and national stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive and strategic support to the ACC
  • Coordinate regional activity to support collaboration and transformation
  • Translate strategy into clear, deliverable actions across three forces
  • Support governance, including meetings, reporting, and action tracking
  • Maintain risk and assurance frameworks
  • Produce briefings, analysis, and presentations for senior leaders
  • Build relationships across forces and with national bodies (Home Office, NPCC, HMICFRS, OPCCs)
  • Monitor delivery, identify risks, and support programme and project activity
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication across the region
