Salary: Scale 3 / 4 (£25,242 - £29,859) plus shift allowance and weekend work enhancement per annum. Allowances: 20% shift allowance and 262 hours weekend work enhancement. This equates to approx. £8,475 (gross) per annum in addition to yearly salary (figure based on a starting salary of £25,242). Allowances are paid from day 1 in post.

As a Detention Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining public safety and ensuring the well-being of detainees within our custody suites. What You’ll Do
- Supervise and ensure the safety and security of detainees in Cleveland Police’s custody suites.
- Work across the custody estate, primarily at Middlesbrough Custody Suite, with occasional duties at Hartlepool Resilience Suite during peak demand.
- Support the Custody Officer from arrival to departure of detainees, including administrative tasks.
- Assist in managing and processing detainees in line with: Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE), Terrorism Act, Crime (Sentences) Act, Authorised Professional Practice (APP).
What We’re Looking For
- Flexibility to meet the demands of the role.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully as part of a team.
- Commitment to completing 5 weeks initial training including mandatory Personal Safety Training and First Aid Training upon appointment, plus willingness to be trained in the use of a defibrillator.
- It is essential for candidates to hold a Level 2 qualification (GCSE or equivalent) at Grade C / Level 4 or above, in order to submit an application form.
