It comprises of the four boroughs of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Stockton-on-Tees. Every town in the region has its own unique identity and personality. Cleveland’s geography is as diverse as the communities that live here. Its landscapes range from dense urban centres to large swathes of rural farmland overlooked by the Cleveland Hills. The area is also lined on its east side by coastal communities facing the North Sea.

Despite its small geographical size, Cleveland Police is one of the busiest police forces in England and Wales and faces significant challenges with high levels of crime and demand for policing services resembling that experienced by much larger metropolitan forces. At Cleveland Police we have a focus on protecting people, protecting communities, tackling criminals and striving to be the best we can be at all we do.

Applications are open to lateral moves for the below ranks who are substantive and have completed their probationary period:

Whether you want to be part of our Response teams, specialise in a particular area of policing, or progress through the ranks, our experienced leaders can help you to reach your goals. All you have to do is bring us your talent, dedication and enthusiasm and we’ll welcome you to the team.

We have a variety of vacancies and opportunities across the Force from Safeguarding and Detective roles to front-line roles in our Local Policing teams. Postings will be made based on operational need and Force requirements, taking into consideration your current skills, training and previous post history. We will attempt to accommodate any preferences in location and posting; however these cannot be guaranteed.

You will retain your:

  • Previous service and current levels of pay (excluding force specific benefits i.e. London Weighting)
  • Annual leave entitlement, as long as there is no break in service
