The Criminal Division of the City of Cleveland’s Law Department is seeking an energetic, self‑motivated attorney to serve as a full‑time Evening Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. The City of Cleveland Prosecutor’s Office offers broad exposure to the legal profession in an environment widely renowned for its challenge, excellence, creativity, integrity, decency and public service.
Responsibilities:
- Review City of Cleveland police investigations to determine charges and draft appropriate paperwork as part of the collaborative Central Booking process.
- Make charging determinations for misdemeanor matters to be handled in Cleveland Municipal Court and felony charges to be prosecuted by the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Office.
- Perform on‑call rotations for charging reviews on a 4 pm–12 am shift, 7 days a week, including holidays.
- Prosecute misdemeanor cases and handle appeals in the 8th District Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Collaborative, problem‑solving mindset.
- Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court.
- Available to work the 4 pm–12 am shift on a rotating basis, 7 days a week, including holidays.
