Job Summary

What are we looking for?
The Water Hygiene Assistant is responsible for supporting the operational delivery and is expected to be familiar with all aspects of Water safety within CCL (Cleveland Clinic London) operations. In general, your responsibilities will be to ensure water safety, labour and infrastructure are in place to ensure correct, safe and efficient function of critical and non-critical healthcare water services to achieve compliant services for CCL.
You will support the Estates & Facilities Leadership team with proactive management of water safety. The role requires you to be a key contact in the event of any operational water safety issues on a day to day basis and must be able to react in a methodical and controlled manner, implementing the agreed escalation procedures as required and keeping the WSG (Water Safety Group) Estates & Facilities management & caregivers fully briefed.
You will be required to communicate to caregivers on all aspects relating to water safety. You will report to the Technical Services Manager, and on a day-to-day basis to the Estates & Facilities Monitoring Specialist & Team.
What will your duties include?
- Contributing to the effective control of legionella & Pseudomonas and compliance with legislation, by performing routine maintenance to water systems across the CCL Estates portfolio.
- Understanding the post's responsibility to meeting legislation and compliance requirements regarding communication and escalation procedures.
- Providing support to the Estates & Facilities team by undertaking water flushing and maintenance works.
- Providing and maintaining a high quality of work to uphold the Cleveland Clinic London reputation and safeguard caregivers, patients and visitors.
- Accurate recording of data and immediate escalation of non-compliance/defects.
- Liaising with caregivers to perform all works effectively.
- Organising their daily workload to complete the tasks in the given priorities, whilst meeting all quality standards, service level agreements and compliance requirements.
- Actively role-modelling the behaviours that reflect the values of CCL.
- Ensure the provision of healthy and safe working conditions and that health and safety policy and process is effectively implemented across CCL.
- Working with the team to ensure the collaborative development of water safety, effective team working, and support to caregivers.
- Review appropriate control systems to ensure statutory, mandatory and policy commitments are met.
- Delivery of a customer focus within all areas of water safety activities and ensure that effective relationships are maintained with key stakeholders and caregivers.
- Produce regular reports to demonstrate the service delivery.
- Act as Competent Person (CP) in relation to specific maintenance responsibilities to Water Safety.
- To understand and comply with the relevant health and safety policies and standards, risk assessments and methods required to prevent hazards to themselves, other occupants of these premises, or to the public.
- The routine checks of plant and equipment and undertaking allocated planned preventative maintenance (PPM) assessments.
- Flushing of water outlets throughout the estate, contacting each site to arrange attendance.
- Identifying outlets that are not regularly used that require flushing and flushing them to comply with legionella guidelines.
- Reactive works linked to flushing activity based on the current daily needs of CCL.
- Updating information via maintenance software and necessary records, including signing the site logbook accurately and evidentially.
- Assisting in the general tidiness & cleanliness of the CCL Estates environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
What we need from you?
- Cleveland Clinic London is a new-build Hospital and therefore experience working in new clinical properties is desirable.
- Experience in Water safety is desirable.
- Previously held CP positions in a health care environment is essential.
- Experience of CAFM System is desirable.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Office or equivalent is desirable.
