Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Charge Nurse to join our PACU team with a competitive salary range on offer, up to £64,890.00, depending upon experience. This full-time, permanent position would require the postholder to work 3x 11.5-hour shifts per week and 2x 9-hour shifts within a 6 week period. This is a Monday-Saturday, Days and Weekends role with shifts within the following hours: 07:00 – 22:00. You will be expected to work past 22:00 as overtime if elective cases are not completed before then.

The 20-bay Post Anaesthetic Care Unit provides enhanced care of patients throughout the immediate postoperative period. We provide expert anaesthesia recovery nursing in the care of post-surgical Neuro/Spine, Vascular, Orthopaedics, Upper/Lower GI, Urology, Head & Neck, ENT, Gynaecology, Plastics and Bariatric Surgery. They also support Interventional Cardiology/Radiology and Endoscopy for their post-procedural/anaesthesia care needs.
What will your duties include?
- Manage the PACU when on duty with overall continuing clinical responsibility, in order to carry out safe delivery of care to all patients.
- Managing safe and cost-efficient daily staffing requirement in relation to the unit’s skill mix and theatre activity.
- Act as a clinical leader and role model whilst providing direct quality patient care.
- Undertake individual performance reviews for your team. Set key objectives for all qualified staff following discussion with them and review as agreed with the Charge Nurse.
- Ensure that delivery of care within the PACU meets the required standards set by CCL in accordance to CQC, NMC and NICE guidance.
What we need from you?
- Current adult nursing registration (First Level) through the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) required with no practice restrictions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of PACU/Recovery nursing and will be able to care for a patient from admission to discharge.
- Prior Charge Nurse experience in PACU/Recovery.
- Ability to work autonomously and also within a team environment where appropriate.
- Demonstrates initiative to proactively problem solve with a solution focus, escalating more complex issues as required.
- Good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
