Job Summary
Cleveland Clinic London is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Bank Podiatrist to join our dedicated Bank Team, offering a competitive rate of pay and the opportunity to work within a world-class clinical environment. The Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute is a key service within Cleveland Clinic London, providing specialist care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you will deliver high-quality podiatry services across the hospital, including the assessment and management of inpatient referrals, delivery of outpatient podiatry clinics, and contribution to multidisciplinary services with integrated podiatry support - particularly within the diabetic foot service. This is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively with leading multidisciplinary teams and play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and outcomes.
We are looking for a clinician available to work one day per week on Wednesdays, supporting both inpatient and outpatient services. Flexible working hours can be considered, with shifts available either 9:00am–5:00pm or 8:00am–8:00pm depending on availability and service needs.
Job responsibilities:
- Provides a high quality of service to patients requiring diagnosis and management, including inpatients and outpatients.
- Undertakes comprehensive specialist assessment of patients using investigative and analytical skills including vascular assessment, neurological assessment, assessment of infection status, laboratory investigations, and wound classification.
- Formulates an individual management and/or treatment programme using clinical reasoning and a wide range of treatment skills and options, considering wound status, neuropathy, peripheral arterial disease, infection, diabetes control, off-loading, and mobility.
- Identifies patients needing escalation of care, including immediate hospital admission.
- Identifies patients with active infection and arranges immediate empirical antibiotic therapy until microbiological investigation results are available.
- Ensures patients are provided with all the necessary information on treatment options and implications, enabling the development of a mutually agreed treatment plan.
- Liaises internally and internationally with medical and non-medical staff within Cleveland Clinic to ensure patients receive the highest quality care in line with current best practice guidelines.
- Contributes and regularly engages with a wider multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care for patients.
What we need from you?
- Diploma / degree in Podiatry.
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (UK).
- Evidence of CPD, maintained in a portfolio showing CPD events/activity relevant to the clinical specialty.
- Diabetes related further study at MSc level (Desirable).
- Experience of advanced wound care techniques and pressure relieving devices.
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary diabetes foot service.
- Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues.
- Experience of supervising clinical staff.
- Ability to carry out management/treatment programmes using clinical reasoning, problem solving, sound judgement and wide knowledge of treatment options.
