What are we looking for?
You will report to the Finance Manager and will be responsible for ensuring best financial practices are followed and monthly reporting is completed timely and accurately. The role will require the ability to constantly evaluate and question activities, look for areas of improvement, through automation and cost saving initiatives.
Key elements of the role are:
- To partner with a variety of departments across the hospital, helping with their accounting needs and developing best practice processes to aid them in their work.
- Act as a Finance business partner and work closely with particular departments to create a real and active partnership with both operations and management. Your role will be to add value that will assist in decision making and drive efficiencies across the business.
What will your duties include?
- Responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders on all financial matters.
- Ensures best financial practices are followed and all financial reports are accurate and relevant.
- Develops an understanding of how all departments operate and to identify where finance can help add value to their work function.
- Involvement in month-end process and preparation of month-end accruals/journals to ensure accurate close of period.
- Month-end balance sheet reconciliations such as prepayments.
- Preparation of VAT return.
- Analyses and interprets month-end results and highlight key variances to budget, through Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that are critical to the business.
- Partners and collaborates with key stakeholders throughout the enterprise to help streamline and improve efficiencies.
- Helps develop strategic plans for managing risks and action plans where necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
What we need from you?
- Newly part-qualified/qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA accountancy qualification is highly desirable or trainee accountant sitting their final exams (essential).
- Relevant accounting and business partnering experience (essential).
- Previous experience within a healthcare environment (highly desirable).
- Experience with working under FRS 102 (UK GAAP) and partial exemption VAT regime (desirable).
- Knowledge of Oracle products (desirable).
- Strong experience with all Microsoft office suites and comfortable with complex excel functions (desirable).
- Prior knowledge of partial VAT exemption scheme (desirable).
