Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is actively looking for Intensive Care Nurses. Candidates with either Neurosurgical, Medical Surgical/Transplant or Cardiovascular experience are encouraged to apply.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing general and specialized direct and indirect patient care through the application of evidence-based nursing procedures and practices to patients of all ages on assigned nursing unit. This position is also responsible for demonstrating competency in the behavioral, growth, development and psychosocial needs of patients being treated.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs accurate and complete admission assessments.
  • Monitors and documents the patient’s condition and the effectiveness of care and/or interventions.
  • Establishes and implements a care plan based on sound nursing theory, scientific principles, professional judgment and individual patient needs.
  • Evaluates and updates the patient’s plan of care to facilitate the achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
  • Assesses for and plans the educational needs of the patient.
  • Provides teaching and educational material to patients and/or families, which may include diagnosis, tests and procedures, safe and proper use of equipment, use of medications, injury prevention and nutritional needs.
  • Monitors and resolves customer service issues and provides feedback regarding satisfaction results to Nursing Leadership.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patients and families.
  • Interacts with patients, families and other visitors in a courteous, helpful manner.
  • Facilitates the incorporation of patient safety and Magnet principles into clinical nursing care.
  • Participates in clinical nursing research and supports CCAD research initiatives.
  • Keeps abreast of best practice information for nursing profession.

CLINICAL / PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Use the knowledge of one’s own role and the roles of other professions to appropriately assess and address the health care needs of the patients and populations served.
  • Demonstrates commitment to providing evidence-based practice care by adhering to protocols for the care of patient populations in which assigned, reporting needed changes in practice supported by evidence, and participating in evaluating patient outcomes utilizing evidence.
  • Delegates appropriate components of the nursing care plan to other members of the nursing team.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and family information by promoting professional interdisciplinary communication.
  • Respects Patient Rights and demonstrates behaviors of a Patients’ First Philosophy.
  • Incorporates the CCAD Professional Practice model and patient safety principles into clinical practice.
  • Reports errors and near-misses.

PROFESSIONALISM

  • Leads the caregiver team in the delivery of patient care collaborating with other disciplines to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
  • Applies relationship-building values and the principles of team dynamics to perform effectively in different team roles to plan and deliver patient/population-centered care that is safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.
  • Maintains confidentiality with patients and families and adheres to Mubadala Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrates active participation in resource stewardship.
  • Provides feedback on strategies to decrease costs, adherence to safe staffing models, and use of high-cost resources.

INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION

  • Works with individuals of other professions to maintain a climate of mutual respect and shared values.
  • Communicates with patients, families, communities, and other health professionals in a responsive and responsible manner that supports a team approach to maintaining health and treatment of disease.
  • Communicates with patients, families, visitors and vendors in a courteous, helpful manner, endeavoring to resolve issues at the unit/department level.
  • Communicates patient clinical information clearly and accurately, documenting pertinent information in medical record and ensuring complete documentation of patient care.
  • Engages patient and family in hand-off of clinical information and planning daily plan of care as appropriate.

PRACTICE-BASED LEARNING AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Accountable for establishing, maintaining and evaluating one’s own lifelong learning needs.
  • Committed to the development of fellow caregivers, Emirati nationals, and one’s profession.

SYSTEM-BASED PRACTICE AND SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT

  • Participates in safety education programs and cause analysis as required.
  • Reports needed changes in practice supported by evidence.
  • Participates in research or quality improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • ESSENTIAL
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years post-graduate experience in an acute care setting is required.
  • Certification and Licensure: Valid and current national license is required; BLS is required from AHA or an equivalent organization, or must be obtained within 3 months of employment; ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty is required, from AHA or an equivalent organization; or must obtain within 6 months of employment.

  • Job Specific Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously; Fluency in written and spoken English; Experience with electronic medical record is strongly preferred; Ability to speak and write in Arabic is preferred.
