The Nursing Education Specialist (NES)- ED/Imaging serves as a clinical expert, health care provider, educator, consultant, and leader within their given specialty. The NES partners with key stakeholders in coordinating and guiding the design, implementation and evaluation of safe, cost-effective, evidence-based education strategies for their designated areas. Participation in Life Support and Simulation is expected.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a clinical resource and mentor
- Collaborates in the design and analysis of learning needs
- Coordinates the design and implementation of learning activities to address specified learning needs
- Implements a comprehensive process of learner assessment and evaluation to demonstrate return on investment (ROI)
- Interfaces with unit Managers to ensure education plans include and are supportive of their clinical and strategic needs
- Facilitates learning resource allocation to meet the unique needs of caregivers in their areas
- Carefully analyses trends in patient care metrics; adverse events; KPIs to implement learning opportunities (formal and informal)
- Assists staff with evidence based research/literature searches to support process/quality improvement
- Ensures the continuing Professional Development of CCNO caregivers through the design and delivery of learning events that receive CEU / CME, HAAD credential
- Facilitates the incorporation of patient safety and Magnet principles into all patient care
- Identifies risk & issues related to Clinical Education service and develops recommendations in collaboration with key stakeholders of CCAD leadership team
- Leads projects and efforts related to Clinical Education accreditation/designation and partners with key stakeholders to develop content, project deliverables, and other assigned work
- Oversees curriculum work plan progress and timelines, assesses implications of plan changes and identifies issues for further escalation
- Coordinates the reporting and communication of education attendance, assessment and evaluation
- Collaborates in the designs & implementation of evidence based structures and processes that standardize curriculum design
- Provides meeting documentation and contributes to meeting facilitation
- Participates in provision of Life Support Classes
- Supports Simulation Center
- Participates in the Residency Program
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification (minimum three (3) year curriculum) in Nursing from an accredited program is required. BLS, ACLS, PALS instructor status relevant to area of specialty is required, from AHA or an equivalent organization or must obtain within 6 months of employment. Master’s degree in Education and/or Nursing plus specialty certification is preferred. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) board certification in specialty area is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of six (6) years post graduate experience in appropriate and relevant health care setting. Demonstrated expertise in a clinical specialty. Knowledge of adult learning theory, motivational strategies, group process skills and teaching strategies. Strong presentation and interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to speak and write in English. Health care industry experience is preferred.
