This position is responsible for providing nutritional care and therapy to patients of all ages at CCAD.
- Provides direct patient care (e.g., nutrition assessment, reassessment and education) using medical nutrition therapy.
- Implements nutritional care plans for patients, reassesses plan for effectiveness as appropriate and utilises appropriate documentation.
- Creates and revises educational materials on medical nutrition therapy related to disease management.
- Provides consultation and guidance in nutritional management and diet counselling to patients, physicians, nurses and other CCAD personnel.
- Serves as an integral part of the health care team, making evidence-based recommendations, serving as a resource for nutrition-related matters and training residents, nurses and other team members.
- Monitors the nutrition care of patients.
- Individualises patient care efforts to prevent and treat diseases through nutrition therapy.
- Delegates tasks to the dietetic technician and maintains accountability for care provided to patients as assigned by the department.
- Represents CCAD on nutrition related matters.
- Adheres to CCAD’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR
- Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, ability to perform work while bending, stooping, stretching or climbing ladders, normal or corrected vision and hearing, strength sufficient to operate required tools and machinery, lift and carry machinery and/or equipment weighing 25 to 100 lbs.
- All employees are also expected to meet the standards of performance outlined in the Organization-Wide Competencies.
- Efficiency and Effectiveness includes quantity and quality of desired work, as well as organisation skills necessary to perform successfully.
- Essential Job Requirements includes adherence to all relevant policies, procedures and guidelines affecting the work environment, as well as maintenance of required competencies and communication skills.
- Assume responsibility of own safety and health and will abide by CCAD Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures as per OSHAD and any other relevant requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from an accredited program is required.
- Master’s degree in relevant clinical field is preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as clinical dietitian in an acute care facility is required.
- For UAE Nationals: Upon completion of an internship.
- Current national license in Clinical Dietetics is required.
- Active member of a nutrition society of Association is preferred.
- Knowledge of nutrition assessments, patient care plans and best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred.
