This is an important role within the business and would suit someone who enjoys working in a varied environment, is commercially aware and is comfortable taking ownership and making things happen.

The Role

Reporting to the senior management team, you will be responsible for the effective management of the company's finance and administration functions, ensuring accurate financial control, strong processes and timely reporting.

As an automotive retail business, the role will have a strong motor trade focus, although previous automotive experience is advantageous rather than essential. We are equally interested in experienced finance professionals from other sectors who can bring strong financial, commercial and administrative skills to the role.

The role will include:

Finance & Accounts

  • Overseeing the day-to-day finance function and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Management of purchase and sales ledgers

  • VAT returns and other statutory financial requirements
  • Monthly management accounts and financial reporting

  • Monitoring costs, margins, cash flow and overall financial performance
  • Ensuring manufacturer, finance company and other automotive-related financial processes are completed accurately
  • Maintaining appropriate financial controls and procedures

Automotive Retail Administration

  • Managing the administrative processes associated with new and used vehicle sales
  • Ensuring vehicle purchase, sales and funding documentation is accurate and compliant
  • Supporting dealership finance and manufacturer reporting requirements
  • Monitoring vehicle-related financial transactions and reconciliations

  • Supporting the effective use and development of our business systems
  • Liaising with external IT providers and software suppliers
  • Managing user access, permissions and basic system administration
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes through new technology and automation

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, commercially minded and hands-on, with the confidence to take responsibility for a broad range of business functions.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a finance, accounts or finance management role
  • A strong understanding of financial controls and accounting processes
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good commercial awareness and the ability to understand business performance
  • Strong IT and Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels
  • A proactive approach to identifying and improving processes
  • A practical, problem-solving attitude

Motor trade or automotive retail experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.

We would welcome applications from experienced finance professionals from other sectors who can demonstrate strong financial, administrative and commercial skills and are keen to apply these within an established automotive business.

Experience within a dealership, particularly familiarity with vehicle sales administration, manufacturer systems, finance companies or automotive accounting processes, would be beneficial, but full training and support will be provided where required.

You don't necessarily need to be an HR or IT specialist. We are looking for someone who is confident managing these areas, working with external specialists where appropriate and taking ownership of the overall administration of the business.

  • A friendly and supportive working environment
  • The backing of a business with over 60 years of automotive experience
