Signalling & Telecoms Lead Technician (Level 1)

We are recruiting for a Signalling & Telecoms Site Engineer (Level 1)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Silwood (SE16 2NE)

Main Duties & Responsibilities (but not limited to)

As a Signalling & Telecoms Lead Technician (Level 1) you will…

  • Target for response to a train delay/safety fault is 20 minutes from receipt of call from FRC/SIC to reaching site. Ensure FRC is rung when the team gets to site to confirm arrival.
  • Diagnose and repair faults to restore equipment to service as soon as possible. Where not possible there and then, liaise with customers via FRC to ensure that a way forward is agreed that is accepted by all relevant parties. Where possible make safe, restore service, and return later to make a permanent repair.
  • Accurately record details of faults relay details to FRC to update Maximo, so that it is clear what happened.
  • Where you do not have the resources or competence to correct faults from within the fault team, identify the extent of the fault, location, what track access is needed. Take photos as necessary and pass on full details to the relevant manager.
  • Where the fault is a safety or train delay fault, liaise with a senior manager (the on-call manager out of hours) to ensure the necessary support.
  • Where the fault is a lift fault, ensure a team member attends and if unable to resolve (or an entrapment) meets the lift engineer on site to ensure that we have a record of what they do to restore the lift.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • BTEC ONC- HNC-HND in electronics
  • PTS
  • COSS
  • Basic first aid
  • Experienced telecoms technician with minimum 5 years in the railway, working on FTN, FTNX, GSMR, SCADA and concentrators
