About Clerkenwell Health
Clerkenwell Health is the UK's specialist clinical trial site network and CRO focused on CNS and psychedelic medicine. We run early-phase studies for biotechs and pharma companies developing the next generation of treatments for depression, addiction, PTSD and other CNS indications. Our work sits at the cutting edge of one of the most scientifically and commercially exciting corners of drug development. We partner with sponsors doing genuinely novel science, and we have a delivery team with the reputation to match.
The Opportunity
A senior commercial role for someone who wants ownership of the pipeline, the process, and the results. You'll lead the sponsor sales cycle end-to-end and manage the BD team that supports it. There's a strong foundation in place; this is about building on it with focus and intent, in a sector that is attracting serious attention from some of the most innovative sponsors in drug development right now.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end sales cycle: prospecting, qualification, proposal, negotiation and close
- Build and manage a weighted pipeline against quarterly and annual revenue targets
- Lead direct outreach to target sponsors, primarily US and European biotechs in CNS, psychedelics and adjacent therapeutic areas
- Develop and maintain senior relationships with clinical operations, BD and C-suite contacts at sponsor and CRO organisations
- Run and manage the BD team, including outbound, inbound qualification and proposal development
- Work closely with Operations and Medical to scope studies accurately and price competitively
- Maintain CRM hygiene and provide accurate forecasting to the CEO and Board
- Represent Clerkenwell at key industry conferences
- Feed market intelligence, sponsor pipelines, competitor activity, pricing dynamics, back into commercial strategy
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Substantial experience selling clinical research services
- Demonstrated track record of closing seven-figure contracts
- Established network of sponsor-side contacts in biotech and/or pharma
- Experience leading or managing a BD function or sales team
- Strong commercial instincts, able to qualify hard, walk away from bad-fit opportunities and protect pricing
Desirable:
- Experience selling into CNS, neuroscience, psychiatry or psychedelic-focused sponsors
- Existing relationships with US biotech CNS pipeline companies
- Experience working with site networks or hybrid CRO-site models
What's on Offer
Competitive base salary, commission tied directly to closed revenue, share options, 25 days holiday, and a genuine seat at the leadership table. You'll be working on therapies that could change the standard of care in CNS medicine, with the autonomy to build the sales function exactly as it should be built.
