Clerkenwell Health is an innovative and leading Research Organisation specialising in the delivery of scientifically grounded clinical trials through its collaborative Contract Research Organisation, extensive Site Network and pioneering Therapy Development Programme. We focus on advancing Mental Health and CNS research, with particular expertise in supporting psychedelic drug development.
We’re looking for a Lead Clinical Research Nurse to join our dynamic clinical site team. This is a senior role responsible for overseeing all nursing and clinical research activities across Clerkenwell Health sites.
As Lead Clinical Research Nurse, you’ll ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of clinical trials, provide expert clinical guidance to the wider team, and maintain high regulatory standards in line with ICH-GCP, Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials Directive, UK Clinical Trials regulations, and internal SOPs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the clinical research nursing team and administrative support staff, including recruitment, supervision, and performance management.
- Oversee the delivery of clinical trials, including study set-up, patient recruitment, treatment administration, follow-up, and IMP management.
- Develop and implement operational systems, protocols, and processes to ensure compliant trial delivery.
- Coordinate the set-up and delivery of multiple clinical studies across the site.
- Ensure adherence to ICH-GCP, Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials Directive, UK Clinical Trials regulations, and the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
- Analyse clinical and operational performance data to inform improvements in trial delivery and resource allocation.
- Manage staffing, resource allocation, and skill mix within budgeted establishments.
- Develop and maintain contingency plans for clinical trial delivery and service continuity.
- Monitor clinical and non-clinical risks and ensure timely corrective actions are taken.
- Ensure accurate documentation of clinical activities, trial data, and regulatory submissions.
- Support training, education, and professional development of research nurses and support staff.
- Coordinate with CROs, sponsors, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure study objectives are met.
- Deputise for the Site Manager/Director in operational and strategic matters.
- Plan and implement site-specific business strategies in collaboration with leadership.
Requirements:
- Licensed Registered Nurse.
- Experience as a research nurse, including in a senior or lead role within a clinical research environment.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities within regulatory and operational frameworks.
- Extensive experience in clinical trial delivery, including IMP management and operational oversight.
- Proven track record coordinating, setting up, and delivering multiple studies in a Clinical Research Facility.
- Knowledge and qualification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
- In-depth understanding of GCP, EU Clinical Trials Directive, UK Clinical Trials regulations, and the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
- Previous line management experience, including direct supervision of staff, performance management, and operational oversight.
