About The Role
We’re looking for a Head of Organic & Owned to own and scale Cleo’s organic growth engine across non-paid acquisition and owned surfaces. This is a hands-on, highly autonomous role where you’ll be responsible for how users discover Cleo organically, how organic channels contribute to efficient growth, and how we build durable, compounding acquisition outside of paid media.
You’ll lead strategy and execution across SEO, ASO, content, and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), alongside other owned or product-led discovery surfaces. Initially, this role is an individual contributor with end-to-end ownership, with the opportunity to build and lead a team over time as impact and scale are proven.
This role is critical as we scale: you’ll define how organic growth contributes to acquisition efficiency, incrementally, and long-term value, while embedding strong measurement, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Own and scale organic & owned acquisition
- Own the organic and owned strategy end-to-end, including SEO, ASO, content, and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) across emerging AI-driven discovery platforms.
- Define how organic channels contribute to acquisition volume, efficiency, and quality, alongside paid channels.
- Ensure organic growth is tightly aligned with brand activity, product launches, and paid acquisition efforts.
- Build strong execution and operating frameworks
- Design and implement frameworks for experimentation, optimisation, prioritisation, and roadmap planning across organic and owned channels.
- Develop early-stage approaches and best practices for GEO, including how Cleo appears in AI-powered search, assistants, and generative recommendation environments.
- Balance short-term wins with long-term compounding bets (e.g. SEO foundations, content systems, product-led discovery loops, and GEO-driven visibility).
- Measurement, insight, and impact
- Define and own success metrics for organic and owned channels, including acquisition volume, efficiency, incrementality, and downstream value.
- Partner closely with Data to improve measurement and attribution, including understanding assisted conversion and blended performance across traditional and AI-driven discovery.
- Use insights to inform prioritisation, investment decisions, and the case for further investment in organic growth.
- Cross-functional leadership
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Brand, and Paid Marketing to align on goals, initiatives, and trade-offs.
- Partner with Product teams to develop and scale product-led discovery surfaces that drive organic acquisition.
- Be a strong voice for organic growth — including GEO — at a leadership level, influencing strategy and decision-making.
- Build for scale over time
- Identify when and where additional investment (people, tools, budget) would materially accelerate organic growth.
- Help define the future shape of an organic & owned team, with the opportunity to hire and lead others as the channel scales and proves impact.
- Significant experience owning organic and/or owned acquisition at scale, ideally in a high-growth consumer product or app.
- Deep expertise in at least one core area (SEO, ASO, content), with curiosity and practical experience in Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) or adjacent emerging discovery channels.
- Comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor with full ownership, while having the ambition and capability to build a team over time.
- Strong analytical mindset, with experience measuring incrementality and long-term impact, not just surface-level metrics.
- Hands-on, pragmatic leader who can move between strategy and execution.
- Excellent collaborator, able to work effectively across functions and influence without authority.
