About Cleo

At Cleo, we’re not just building another fintech app. We’re embarking on a mission to fundamentally change humanity’s relationship with money. Imagine a world where everyone, regardless of background or income, has access to a hyper‑intelligent financial advisor in their pocket. That’s the future we’re creating.

About The Company

Cleo is a rare success story: a profitable, fast‑growing unicorn with over $200 million in ARR and growing over 2x year‑over‑year. This isn’t just a job; it’s a chance to join a team of brilliant, driven individuals who are passionate about making a real difference. We have an exceptionally high bar for talent, seeking individuals who are not only at the top of their field but also embody our culture of collaboration and positive impact.

About The Role

We’re hiring a Compliance Manager to sit within Cleo’s Legal, Compliance & Policy (LCP). This is a brand new role focused on UK Compliance and driving delivery of regulatory projects across cross‑functional teams. You’ll take the lead in managing the day‑to‑day UK compliance operations of our Compliance program as we scale rapidly over the next 3‑5 years.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • UK Regulatory & Compliance Delivery: Translate regulatory, legal, and policy requirements into actionable workstreams with clear artefacts, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans. Support teams as they implement new controls, disclosures, workflows, and governance processes.
  • Cross‑Functional Delivery Leadership: Own and run cross‑functional projects that span Legal, Compliance, Product, Engineering, and Ops — from scoping through to delivery. Drive clarity on goals, timelines, owners, and risks, and ensure teams are consistently aligned and unblocked.
  • Risk & Audit Readiness: Support ongoing AI, EWA, consumer protection, and data governance assessments. Track remediation actions, build documentation that stands up to audits, and ensure decisions and assumptions are well recorded.
  • Marketing: Review marketing and consumer‑facing assets for compliant advertising practices and disclosures.
  • Incident & Issue Management: Help coordinate investigations into compliance‑relevant issues — ensuring clear timelines, owners, next steps, and communication paths. Drive fixes to completion and ensure learnings translate into long‑term controls or process changes.
  • Regulatory Response Support: Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Product to scope, organise, and deliver timely responses to regulator queries, audits, and licensing requests. Maintain clear, audit‑ready documentation and help stakeholders meet deadlines.

What We’re Looking For

  • Must‑Have: 5+ years in compliance or program management within a product, fintech, in a regulatory environment. Demonstrated experience leading complex cross‑functional delivery involving Legal, Compliance, Product, Engineering, and Operations. Strong project management fundamentals: scoping, planning, RAID management, documentation, stakeholder alignment, and structured communication. Ability to turn ambiguous or technical requirements into clear plans with defined owners and outcomes. Experience working with regulatory or compliance contexts (e.g., consumer protection, data privacy, EWA, AI governance). Strong written and verbal communication skills — especially in simplifying complexity and engaging senior stakeholders. A bias for clarity, momentum, and ownership, especially under time‑sensitive or high‑stakes conditions.
  • Nice‑to‑Have: Experience working in tech, fintech, or other regulated product environments. Experience supporting audits, licensing processes, or compliance reviews. Familiarity with risk assessments, control frameworks, or governance processes. Experience building operational or delivery systems (templates, dashboards, workflows, or internal processes). Experience reviewing consumer marketing assets in regulated environments. Exposure to AI‑related products, risks or compliance workflows.

What do you get for all your hard work?

  • A competitive compensation package (base + equity) with bi‑annual reviews, aligned to our quarterly OKR planning cycles.
  • Work at one of the fastest‑growing tech startups, backed by top VC firms, Balderton & EQT Ventures.
  • A clear progression plan. We want you to keep growing. That means trying new things, leading others, challenging the status quo and owning your impact. Always with our complete support.
  • Flexibility. We can’t fight for the world’s financial health if we’re not healthy ourselves. We work with everyone to make sure they have the balance they need to do their best work.
  • Work where you work best. We’re a globally distributed team. If you live in London we have a hybrid approach, we’d love you to spend one day a week or more in our beautiful office. If you’re outside of London, we’ll encourage you to spend a couple of days with us a few times per year. And we’ll cover your travel costs, naturally.

  • Equity top‑ups for team members getting promoted.
  • 25 days annual leave a year + public holidays (+ an additional day for every year you spend at Cleo, up to 30 days).
  • 6% employer‑matched pension in the UK.
  • Private Medical Insurance via Vitality, dental cover, and life assurance.
  • Enhanced parental leave.
  • 1‑month paid sabbatical after 4 years at Cleo.
  • Regular socials and activities, online and in‑person.
  • We’ll pay for your OpenAI subscription.
  • Online mental health support via Spill.

  • And many more!
