About Cleo
At Cleo, we are embarking on a mission to fundamentally change humanity's relationship with money. Imagine a world where everyone, regardless of background or income, has access to a hyper-intelligent financial advisor in their pocket. That is the future we are creating. Cleo is a profitable, fast-growing unicorn with over $200 million in ARR and growing over 2x year-over-year. This is a chance to join a team of brilliant, driven individuals who are passionate about making a real difference.
About The Role
We are hiring a Capital Markets Associate to join our fast-growing Debt Capital Markets team. This is a hands-on, high-responsibility role of vital importance to scaling Cleo’s credit platform. You will take a lead role in structuring and executing new capital solutions, including corporate and asset-backed debt facilities. You will manage investor relationships, support the launch of new credit products, and help Cleo expand into new geographies.
Key Responsibilities
- Capital Markets Strategy and Execution: Take a lead role in developing Cleo’s capital allocation and funding strategy. Execute the strategy by supporting structuring, negotiation and closing of new credit facilities across Cleo’s expanding credit product suite.
- Analytics, modelling and financial analysis: Develop and refine performance, collateral and funding models. Partner closely with Credit and product teams to analyse new and existing credit portfolios. Support structuring of borrowing bases, performance triggers and concentration limits. Monitor covenant compliance and provide facility level forecasting, assisting in business wide forecasting.
- New Products and Geographic Expansion: Partner across Cleo businesses to ensure capital readiness for all new initiatives. Assist product teams in developing new credit products. Work cross functionally to launch and secure financing for new jurisdictions.
- Investor Relations: Manage existing relationships and support growth of new strategic partnerships. Prepare high quality materials for lenders, equity investors and other third parties.
- Debt Facility Management, Compliance & Monitoring: Own the management of Cleo’s debt facilities, by building strong external and internal facing relationships. Own reporting for financial covenants, concentration limits, and facility triggers — ensuring complete accuracy, consistency, and proactive monitoring. Lead amendment requests to Lenders as required.
- Operational support: Assist in building scalable processes across treasury, capital management and reporting. Take a lead role in onboarding third party vendors as applicable. Own and manage relationships with third parties (collateral auditors, law firms, advisors).
What We Are Looking For
- 2-6 years’ experience in structured finance, capital markets, or specialty finance at a bank, fund, Fintech, or other relevant financial services provider.
- Some background in data analytics or a desire to learn (SQL, Python).
- A solid grasp of financial and operational metrics—ideally having worked closely with FP&A, Strategic Finance, or similar teams.
- Track record of supporting the execution of asset-backed credit facilities (securitization, warehouse financing), and/or the management of capital markets transactions.
- Familiarity with credit exposures and facility-level reporting — understanding how utilisation, concentration, and covenant tests drive capital markets relationships.
- Experience supporting multiple debt facilities or investor stakeholders, ensuring reporting is accurate, consistent, and compliant across different structures.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
- A bias for action and ownership—you’re excited to build from scratch, own it end-to-end, and deliver value fast.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work fluidly across technical and non-technical teams.
- Interest in fintech and Cleo’s mission to make money easier and more human.
What do you get for all your hard work?
- A competitive compensation package (base + equity) with bi-annual reviews, aligned to our quarterly OKR planning cycles.
- Work at one of the fastest-growing tech startups, backed by top VC firms, Balderton & EQT Ventures.
- A clear progression plan. We want you to keep growing. That means trying new things, leading others, challenging the status quo and owning your impact.
- Flexibility. We work with everyone to make sure they have the balance they need to do their best work.
- Hybrid-first: Join our hybrid-first team, where we blend the best of both remote and in-office work. We expect our team members to be in our London office 1-2 times a week.
- Company-wide performance reviews every 6 months.
- Generous pay increases for high-performing team members.
- Equity top-ups for team members getting promoted.
- 25 days annual leave a year + public holidays (+ an additional day for every year you spend at Cleo, up to 30 days).
- 6% employer-matched pension in the UK.
- Private Medical Insurance via Vitality, dental cover, and life assurance.
- Enhanced parental leave.
- 1 month paid sabbatical after 4 years at Cleo.
- Regular socials and activities, online and in-person.
- Online mental health support via Spill.
