Clements Young is recruiting a Projects Coordinator on behalf of an established independent fire and security specialist based in Newmarket, Cambridgeshire. This is a varied role with responsibility for coordinating and delivering fire and security projects from estimating through to completion and handover. You will work closely with the Projects Manager, clients, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to keep projects on programme, within budget and to the required quality and safety standards. The position combines an office base with site surveys and project meetings. It would suit someone with fire and security industry knowledge, commercial awareness and experience in estimating or project delivery who is ready to take ownership of a broad range of project responsibilities. Key responsibilities * Support estimating and coordinate project delivery from order through to testing, commissioning and handover. * Attend site surveys and contract meetings, liaising with clients on scope, technical queries, programme and phasing. * Plan labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor requirements to meet project deadlines. * Assess supplier and subcontractor proposals, negotiate costs and coordinate orders within agreed budgets. * Oversee engineers and subcontractors, monitoring workmanship, progress and compliance with specifications. * Monitor labour and material costs, report variances and assist with forecasts, project accounts, payment applications and subcontractor accounts. * Ensure health and safety procedures are implemented at site level. * Coordinate testing, commissioning and client demonstrations, and arrange operating and maintenance manuals, as-installed drawings and handover documentation. * Maintain accurate project records and clear communication with clients and colleagues. Skills and experience * Technical knowledge of fire and security alarm systems from a range of manufacturers. * In-depth knowledge of relevant fire and life safety regulations. * Knowledge of associated systems, including voice alarms, CCTV and access control. * Commercial awareness within the fire and security or electrical industry, with the ability to manage costs and work within budgets. * Proven estimating experience is desirable. * Strong organisation and time management, with the ability to manage several priorities and meet deadlines. * Confident written and verbal communication and a professional approach to client relationships. * Competent use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
