Do you have extensive experience in the Rolling Stock sector? Are you looking for a new challenge that could really shape your career? We are supporting our client in the search for a Rail Operations Manager based out of their state of the art facility in Stratford upon Avon. You will be responsible for leading the safe delivery of on-time rail operations through effective planning and management of the site rail operations team.

You will also be involved in:

  • Developing rosters for the rail operations team, ensuring sufficient available resource as well as managing the welfare of the team in line with company procedures.
  • Leading the planning of all rail operations ensuring plans are prioritised and effectively communicated to the team.
  • Chairing daily and weekly planning meetings.
  • Working with internal teams to ensure team members are competent to carry out their duties and working to Operational standards, procedures etc.
  • Developing and implementing a suite of KPIs to enable proactive monitoring of delivery performance.
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to the Operations team leader to support continued development and cover during periods of absence.

What you’ll have:

  • A thorough knowledge of train driving and shunting techniques within Rail Depots, yards and sidings.
  • Previous line management of a Rail Operations Team including drivers/shunters.
  • It would be great if you have any formal management qualification, PTS, or IOSH.
  • Excellent knowledge of railway operations and conversant with the Railway Rule book.
  • Familiarity with relevant Health and Safety Legislation and Rail Industry Standards.
  • Similar experience as a Driver Manager or Operations Manager within Rail Operations.
