About us: With a fleet of over 2,200 items of plant and equipment and employing over 180 staff, we are the largest compaction and surface dressing hire Company in the UK and also provide a general purpose fleet of compact and mid range sized construction and materials handling equipment. We have a national network of 9 Depots (Glasgow, Darlington, Stoke, Chesterfield, Ludlow, Corby, Andover, Dartford and Newton Abbot) and have operated for over 60 years which is a testament to our culture of 'Committed to Service in Everything We Do'.
The Role: We have a vacancy for a Plant Manager based in the Midlands. Working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (42.5 hours per week). The role is to provide support and advice to the Operational Division on Technical matters in relation to the Plant and Transport fleet in order to maximise availability and manage the training and development plans of the Engineers to ensure the required level of competency is achieved.
Key Duties:
- Design and maintain cost effective and time-based service / repair and refurbishment schedules and programmes for optimum plant and fleet efficiency in line with manufacturers recommendations.
- Assist in maintaining good relationships with our Suppliers and Manufacturers and work with them to seek improvements in products design, reliability, and performance.
- Assist in overseeing the completion of major repairs.
- Monitor and provide advice on repairs and servicing of the Transport Fleet.
- Assist in the roll out / management of IT functionality relating to our Plant Service and Repair Procedures, including RM Workshop, Telematics, Error Codes, Diagnostic Tooling and the Intranet.
Candidate Profile: The successful candidate must have a strong maintenance background with an excellent understanding of heavy plant machinery and commercial vehicles and has experience of delivering excellent technical support and advice. We are looking for someone who is proactive, can demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills and who will make a significant contribution towards the efficiency of our Plant Fleet and associated operating systems.
