We are currently looking for a Finance Assistant.

The Finance Assistant provides day-to-day support to the Management Accountant.

The role is responsible for processing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with reconciliations, accruals, and month-end tasks.

The Finance Assistant also contributes to supplier payments, expense processing, and intercompany recharges, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all financial operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Financial Operations
  • Reconcile and process client payments accurately and on time.
  • Generate and issue bank remittances.
  • Complete client account bank reconciliations in Sage.
  • Process and validate cost of sales against revenue.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and prepare supplier payment runs.
  • Manage the purchase ledger inbox, ensuring timely processing of invoices and queries.
  • Process internal staff expense claims.
  • Month-End & Year-End Support
  • Prepare and post accruals and prepayments.
  • Assist the Management Accountant with intercompany recharges.
  • Support month-end and year-end close by providing reconciliations and schedules.
  • Provide information and documentation to support audits.
  • Continuous Improvement & Team Support
  • Contribute to system development, process improvements, and project work.
  • Cross-train across finance tasks to provide cover when required.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across finance and the wider business

Requirements

Ability to work with discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.

  • AAT qualification or working towards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processes.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (ideally Sage 200).
  • Experience with reconciliations and general ledger functions.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Previous experience supporting month-end or year-end reporting.
  • Experience in a commercial, service-led, or property-related business.
