The Accounting Software Analyst (ASA) certifies and assures the quality of new and existing accounting products by auditing and executing test plans to verify that new or modified software programs function according to user requirements and conform to established accounting guidelines. The ASA role is a mix of supporting members of operations with their more technical accounting questions, as well as working with members of R&D to assist in identification of bugs and new feature development. The ASAs provide crucial assistance to multiple departments and work to support smooth lockdowns during month, quarter and year-ends. It's a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and get a behind the scenes look at the accounting system. This role offers a deeper dive into the data that flows through the Clearwater system, from data feeds all the way to the front office.
Responsibilities
- Performs hands-on testing of new accounting products or enhancements to existing accounting products.
- Defines complex scenarios and variations in data to adequately test the functionality.
- Creates accounting rules that the automated tests use to check the data accuracy of the reports.
- Supports Operations Departments by answering complex accounting questions regarding how the Clearwater software implemented accounting guidance.
- Interacts with other accounting Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and development teams to identify and refine requirements.
- Reviews and provides feedback on requirements, design, and scope documents.
- May assist with education and training relating to accounting software enhancements and conveying corrections to other employees.
- Understands the domain related to the projects that the team works in so that they can represent the voice of the customer.
- Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
- Evaluates how a given change can impact the projects that their team is working on and uses it to drive proper test coverage.
- Drives changes in quality processes.
- Contributes to the implementation of new features or bug fixes.
- Independently prioritises incoming workload and accurately answers questions related to the team’s code changes and project status.
- Successfully works with other teams to validate cross team changes.
- Proactively follows up with other people in the organisation when questions arise that need clarification.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Audit is preferred.
- Experience in an accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards e.g. GAAP, IFRS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desired Experience or Skills
- Audit experience.
- Securities or financial markets knowledge.
- CPA, CA, or equivalent is good to have.
- SQL and database querying experience.
