Clear Voice is currently recruiting freelance translators for GermanEnglish, to work on selfâemployed contracts who can help to meet our clients' needs. What we expect from our linguists:
Essential Skills:
- A Native speaker of the target language (language you are translating into).
- Excellent writing skills and command of grammar both in your mother tongue and English.
- Native fluency in source language(s).
- Demonstrable subject matter expertise specific to the content you translate.
- Knowledge and experience in using CAT tools.
- Attention to detail.
- Time management skills and ability to work quickly to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft computer packages.
Desirable Skills:
- A solid understanding and in-depth knowledge of language/country-specific cultures usually gained by living and working there for a prolonged period of time.
- Living, studying, or working in a bilingual environment or working in the language industry.
- Proficiency in InDesign.
- Knowledge of translation-oriented applications and software is helpful.
- Enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge.
Qualifications, Experience and Memberships:
At least one of the following plus relevant experience (with documented evidence):
- A recognised graduate qualification in translation from an institution of higher education;
- A recognised honours degree in the relevant language.
- MA or postgraduate qualification in Translation.
- A recognised graduate qualification in any other field from an institution of higher education plus two years of fullâtime professional experience in translating.
- Five years of fullâtime professional experience in translating.
- CIOL Qualifications Level 7 Diploma in Translation (DipTrans), (DPI level 4&5 in translation for rare languages).
- CIOL Level 6 Certificate in Translation (CertTrans).
- Full qualified membership of a relevant professional body (ITI, CIOL, NRPST, for example).
You must also be able to provide:
- Evidence that you are eligible to work in the UK (if UK based).
- Provide a valid DBS certificate (or be willing to apply for one if UK based) or Police Check Certificate (nonâUK).
- 2 Professional References.
- Agree to provide test translation free of charge.
