Clear Voice are passionate about removing language barriers and supporting vulnerable people. We work with Charities and organisations in the Public and Private Sectors across the UK.
We are currently recruiting freelance translators for Pashto English, and Dari English, to work on self-employed contracts who can help to meet our clients’ needs.

What we expect from our linguists
Essential Skills
- A fluent (native) understanding of at least one foreign language.
- Excellent writing skills and command of grammar both in your mother tongue and English.
- Native fluency in target and source languages – spoken and written subject matter knowledge specific to the content provided.
- Knowledge of CAT tools.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Time management skills and ability to work quickly to meet deadlines.
- The ability to use initiative and have self-motivation.
Desirable Skills
- A solid understanding and in-depth knowledge of language/country-specific cultures usually gained by living and working there for a prolonged period of time.
- An academic degree in the source language or in another subject which could lead to a specialist subject area.
- Living, studying, or working in a bilingual environment or working in the language industry.
- Proficiency in the use of a range of computer packages – knowledge of translation-oriented applications and software is helpful.
- Enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge.
Qualifications, Experience and Memberships
At least one of the following plus relevant experience (with documented evidence):
- A recognized graduate qualification in translation from an institution of higher education;
- A recognized graduate qualification in any other field from an institution of higher education plus two years of full-time professional experience in translating;
- Five years of full-time professional experience in translating;
- CIOL Qualifications Level 7 Diploma in Translation (DipTrans), (DPI level 4&5 in translation for rare languages);
- CIOL Level 6 Certificate in Translation (CertTrans);
- Full membership of a renowned translation institution (ITI, CIOL, for example).
You must also be able to provide:
- Evidence that you are eligible to work in the UK (if UK based).
- Provide a valid DBS certificate (or be willing to apply for one if UK based) or Police Check Certificate (non-UK).
- 2 Professional References.
- Agree to provide a test translation free of charge.
