Freelance Researcher and Facilitator – Expressions of Interest

We work with a network of freelance researchers and facilitators who support our work when specific expertise, capacity, or flexibility is needed. At times, this means engaging new freelancers; at other times, projects are delivered by people we already have established working relationships with.

We are currently inviting expressions of interest from UK-focused freelance qualitative and/or quantitative researchers, as well as experienced facilitators, who are interested in working on purposeful, values-led projects on an ad‑hoc basis as opportunities arise.

Whether you have experience delivering research projects independently, analysing complex datasets, facilitating interviews or group conversations, or producing clear and compelling reports, we’d be glad to hear from you.

All applications are reviewed when received and retained so we can identify freelancers whose skills and approach align with specific projects. While we may not be able to respond to or engage every applicant immediately, this is not a “ghost role” — applications help us build and maintain a trusted freelance network that we draw from as work becomes available.

We typically work with day rates in the range of £150–£500, depending on experience, role, and project requirements.

How to prepare for a job interview at clearviewresearch

Know Your Research Inside Out

Before the interview, make sure you’re well-versed in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Be ready to discuss your previous projects, the methodologies you used, and the outcomes. This shows that you’re not just a researcher but someone who can bring valuable insights to the table.

Showcase Your Facilitation Skills

As a facilitator, it’s crucial to demonstrate your ability to lead discussions and engage participants. Prepare examples of how you've successfully facilitated interviews or group conversations in the past. Highlight any techniques you use to encourage participation and manage group dynamics.

Tailor Your Approach to Their Values

Since the company focuses on values-led projects, take some time to understand their mission and values. During the interview, align your experiences and skills with what they stand for. This will show that you’re not only a fit for the role but also for their organisational culture.

Prepare Thoughtful Questions

Interviews are a two-way street, so come prepared with questions that reflect your interest in their projects and processes. Ask about the types of research they typically undertake or how they measure success in their projects. This demonstrates your enthusiasm and helps you gauge if it’s the right fit for you.
