Freelance Researcher and Facilitator – Expressions of Interest

We work with a network of freelance researchers and facilitators who support our work when specific expertise, capacity, or flexibility is needed. At times, this means engaging new freelancers; at other times, projects are delivered by people we already have established working relationships with.

We are currently inviting expressions of interest from UK-focused freelance qualitative and/or quantitative researchers, as well as experienced facilitators, who are interested in working on purposeful, values-led projects on an ad‑hoc basis as opportunities arise.

Whether you have experience delivering research projects independently, analysing complex datasets, facilitating interviews or group conversations, or producing clear and compelling reports, we’d be glad to hear from you.

All applications are reviewed when received and retained so we can identify freelancers whose skills and approach align with specific projects. While we may not be able to respond to or engage every applicant immediately, this is not a “ghost role” — applications help us build and maintain a trusted freelance network that we draw from as work becomes available.

We typically work with day rates in the range of £150–£500, depending on experience, role, and project requirements.

How to prepare for a job interview at clearviewresearch

Know Your Research Inside Out

Before the interview, make sure you’re well-versed in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Brush up on your past projects and be ready to discuss specific examples of how you've applied these techniques. This will show that you’re not just familiar with the concepts but have practical experience too.

Showcase Your Facilitation Skills

As a facilitator, your ability to guide conversations is key. Prepare to share instances where you've successfully led group discussions or interviews. Highlight your approach to managing different personalities and ensuring everyone’s voice is heard. This will demonstrate your capability to handle diverse groups effectively.

Be Ready for Scenario Questions

Expect questions that put you in hypothetical situations related to research or facilitation. Think about how you would tackle challenges like conflicting opinions in a group or unexpected data results. Practising these scenarios can help you articulate your thought process clearly during the interview.

Align with Their Values

Since the company focuses on values-led projects, do some homework on their mission and values. Be prepared to discuss how your personal values align with theirs and how this influences your work. This connection can set you apart from other candidates who may not have done their research.
