Salary: £37,279.00 - £52,302.00 per annum
The Support Worker Team Manager provides high-quality support and positive outcomes for young people leaving care including unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people, supporting them in their transition into adulthood and independent living. The Support Worker Team Manager ensures that advice and guidance is provided to Support Workers and young people living independently in their homes.
Responsibilities include:
- Auditing and monitoring care plans and working to set Key Performance Objectives (KPO’s).
- Ensuring that standards, legislation and contractual obligations are met.
- Planning and prioritising your diary to ensure monthly 1-to-1s and performance reviews are completed.
- Managing own time to meet business demands with a team of support workers across the Kent area.
- Reviewing and monitoring staff performance against contractual, team and business requirements.
- Providing cover for staff absences within the field.
- Communicating and liaising with stakeholders and local authority staff and sub-contractors.
- Planning and managing personal business objectives in line with the contract specification.
- Ensuring the team is trained and developed to support the requirements of the contract.
- Providing support, advice and guidance to support workers and their young people living independently.
- Assisting in developing young people’s independent living skills.
- Promoting and encouraging positive life choices such as social activities, budgeting, health and education.
- Researching and maintaining an up-to-date library of local services available to assist in the delivery of support.
- Liaising with social services and other professionals regarding service delivery.
- Participating in service developments to ensure continuous improvements in service delivery.
- Ensuring all young people and staff are treated in accordance with the Equal Opportunities policy.
- Working to an agreed rota for on-call assistance.
- Addressing and signposting safeguarding issues in accordance with company policies.
- Coordinating and liaising with team members for cohesive service delivery.
- Responsible for people management relating to sickness, absence, capabilities and discipline.
- Providing on-call cover during peak times or emergencies.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Social Care and/or equivalent, or willing to work towards one.
- Knowledge and understanding of The Children’s Act and Children’s Social Care.
- A full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle.
- Previous experience working with young people within the care setting.
- Strong communication skills, particularly the ability to influence, persuade and negotiate.
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Must be able to travel across a large geographical portfolio.
- Monitoring own work levels, progress and development in the role.
- Undertaking all core learning and development programmes as required.
