The Safeguarding Officer is responsible for supporting the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable service users. The postholder will facilitate the effective day-to-day operation of the Regional Safeguarding Teams and support the delivery of safeguarding activity across the allocated region. The Safeguarding Officer will also contribute to organisational development by supporting Regional Safeguarding Teams to embed a culture of safeguarding, continuous improvement and learning across the organisation. The postholder will have experience of working in a safeguarding environment and will be competent at making risk-based decisions in line with legislation, agreed thresholds and timescales. A region will be allocated based on geographical location. Regular travel is required, so a full and valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential. The postholder will be expected to manage their time and caseload independently and effectively, balancing fieldwork with remote working duties.
Key Relationships: The Safeguarding Officer will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, colleagues from across the business and Service Users, as well as the Home Office, Local Authorities, Police, Health, Education and other relevant partner agencies.
Scope and Decision Making: The Safeguarding Officer is responsible for supporting and coordinating effective safeguarding practice across the organisation, ensuring concerns are identified, recorded, responded to and escalated appropriately. The Safeguarding Officer will work within organisational policies, statutory guidance and agreed safeguarding procedures. The role will have autonomy to make day-to-day safeguarding decisions within remit, while seeking specialist or management advice when required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Core Responsibilities: Carry out regular face-to-face visits to service users and company sites. Respond to all safeguarding notifications and proactively monitor a caseload of service users with specific needs and/or identified risk. Provide advice, guidance, and support to the wider business on safeguarding matters. Maintain professional and effective communication with stakeholders and partner agencies, attending multi-agency meetings when required. Signpost and advise service users in line with company policies and procedures. Identify and escalate risks appropriately through internal processes and to external agencies. Support the reporting, follow-up, and oversight of incidents and high-profile notifications. Identify training/knowledge gaps and facilitate learning for staff. Collate information to support enquiries, thematic learning, and evidence of contractual compliance. Create and maintain accurate, timely records in line with company policies. Participate in professional supervision with your line manager and peers.
- Connect and Collaborate: Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and partners agencies. Attend meetings and share information appropriately to support joined up working and service delivery. Support team members and provide on-the-job training. Provide cover for other staff as agreed by line manager.
- Responsive: Deliver a timely, customer-focused service, adapting to changing priorities and demands. Keep up to date with all written and verbal communications. Take ownership of issues and see them through to resolution.
- Talented: Apply safeguarding knowledge and skills to advise and support staff to respond appropriately to complex or sensitive concerns. Undertake all core learning and development programmes as required. Seek opportunities to develop and continuously improve performance.

- Agile and Diverse: Undertake any other duties within the scope of responsibility and ability, as required, inclusive of providing similar support to any other local company project.

Complete mandatory training and maintain any required vetting, checks, licences or professional registrations.
