At Clear Space, we believe in reusability, in affordability driving disruption, and that no progress is real unless it is sustainable.

Our company was founded in 2018 out of the realization that in-orbit servicing and space debris removal are vital services for the future of space exploration and operations.

Today Clear Space has assembled an expert engineering team and is leading the way toward sustainable space operations.

From a garage in Switzerland, we now operate across UK and Europe, and are working with world-leading institutions and companies to bring our dream of a sustainable space ecosystem to life.

Motivated to join us and make a difference beyond earth? We are currently looking for a Senior PA/QA Engineer to join the London team.

The Role

As a Senior PA/QA Engineer at Clear Space, you will play a key role in ensuring that every mission and product meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.

You will be actively involved in Product and Quality Assurance (PA/QA) activities across all phases of our programs—from design collaboration and risk assessment to investigative reviews during AIV (Assembly, Integration, and Verification).

You’ll contribute to process improvements, support certification efforts, and help embed a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys working closely with technical teams and diving into the details of complex space missions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of Clear Space’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring it meets project and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide hands-on PA/QA support across company programs, from early planning stages through to launch and operations.
  • Assist in defining and applying the “Clear Space Standards” — our internal requirements guiding mission development and delivery — ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to implement effective quality assurance processes and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant industry standards (e. g., ISO9001, EN9100) and contribute to certification activities.
  • Participate in internal audits, reviews, and inspections to ensure adherence to quality procedures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to risk management activities by identifying potential quality risks and supporting mitigation strategies.
  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement through active participation in cross-functional initiatives and feedback loops.
  • Support documentation, reporting, and communication of quality metrics and findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the PA/QA function in project meetings and customer interactions, ensuring quality requirements are clearly understood and met.
  • Must Have
  • Extensive product/quality assurance experience in the space sector.
  • Proven leadership in managing quality standards, process improvements, and regulatory compliance for space missions.
  • Strong knowledge of international standards (e. g., ISO9001, EN9100).
  • Direct involvement in design, manufacture, and qualification of spaceflight hardware.
  • Expertise in maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ability to interpret and apply standards (e. g., ECSS).
  • Experience in writing technical documentation.
  • Experience in supplier management and company-wide risk management.
  • Experience in leading teams.
  • Nice to Have

Familiarity with specialized areas such as
