We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused 1st Charge Advisor to join our growing ClearScore Home Lending team. This role is central to helping customers make confident financial decisions by supporting them through the first charge mortgage journey, from initial inquiry through to completion. You’ll combine strong regulatory knowledge with a customer‑first mindset to deliver tailored mortgage solutions while ensuring the highest standards of compliance and customer outcomes.
What you will be doing:
- Conduct detailed fact‑finds to understand customer circumstances and provide suitable, compliant mortgage recommendations.
- Provide clear, compliant information and guidance in line with FCA regulations.
- Recommend suitable first charge mortgage products.
- Package and submit applications accurately to lenders.
- Liaise with underwriters, solicitors, valuers and other third parties to progress cases.
- Maintain accurate and detailed customer records on internal systems.
- Ensure all compliance documentation is completed to required standards.
- Meet agreed KPIs including conversion rates, quality standards and customer satisfaction.
- Deliver excellent customer service throughout the mortgage journey.
- Keep up to date with lender criteria, regulatory changes and market developments.
Skills we’d love you to have:
- CeMAP 1 qualified (or equivalent).
- Experience working within the UK mortgage market (first charge).
- Strong understanding of FCA regulation and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
- Experience conducting fact‑finds and affordability assessments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a pipeline of cases effectively.
- Comfortable working to targets in a regulated environment.
Desirable:
- Fully CeMAP qualified (or equivalent).
- Experience using mortgage sourcing systems.
- Experience working with a variety of UK lenders.
