DriveScore is searching for a talented backend engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will influence the direction of critical DriveScore services and tools that allow us to scale rapidly. DriveScore’s mission is to disrupt the car insurance market by making it more transparent, accessible, and user-centric than ever before. Leveraging cutting-edge telematics technology and data analytics, DriveScore provides users with personalised car insurance offers and insights, helping people make informed decisions about their car insurance needs. When joining our team, you\’ll contribute to a global micro-services architecture written in Scala, using functional programming to really provide value to our users. Currently, our micro-services communicate via REST API calls, fostering seamless integration between different services. You will actively participate in our ongoing transition towards an event-driven architecture, utilising Kafka as a core component. You\’ll also work with: The Typelevel Stack (Cats, Cats Effect, http4s, Circe), Kafka, SBT and occasionally Akka HTTP A world-class SRE team who champion our “you build it you run it” principle, empowering our developers to work with AWS, Kubernetes and Spinnaker A Quality Assistance programme to build, test, release and monitor your own work TDD and peer-reviewing enabling you to do frequent yet resilient releases to global services You will be joining: A cross-functional squad, to collaborate closely with Frontend Engineers, Native Engineers, Test Engineers and product managers to build new features on one of our apps A global community of ~50 backend developers from diverse backgrounds. We are a big fan of coding bootcamps and see the great value non-traditional routes into technical careers can bring to the team A global team of ~150 developers in ClearScore’s engineering function A learning culture, where everyone is supported in drawing up an annual Personal Development Plan.
