We are looking for a Product Designer who is passionate about discovery, conceptual thinking, and crafting exceptional experiences from the ground up. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, can take ideas from concept to tangible design, and is confident using research to shape and validate solutions. You will work within the Upstream (Mortgages) team, helping define how ClearScore empowers users to understand and improve their mortgage journey. This is an opportunity to shape new and innovative experiences in a complex and evolving space, driving simplicity and clarity for millions of users.
Our Design team is deeply collaborative and driven by curiosity. We believe in challenging assumptions, exploring possibilities, and creating meaningful impact for our users. If you are excited about bringing ideas to life and pushing creative boundaries while staying grounded in user insight, we would love to have you. This role is based out of London or Edinburgh and has a hybrid working model, requiring 2 days a week in the office.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience in discovery and early-stage design, including framing problems, exploring hypotheses, and synthesising insights.
- Proven ability to translate conceptual ideas into tangible design outcomes, from rough sketches to high-fidelity prototypes and scalable, globally adaptable solutions.
- Experience in user research across both discovery and validation.
- Excellent visual design skills and a good understanding of hierarchy, layout, typography, and visual consistency.
- Experience designing for native and web platforms.
- Experience working with design systems and established component libraries.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and create structure where little exists.
- Comfortable running ideation workshops, co-creation sessions, and communicating design rationales.
- Proficiency in Figma or equivalent design tools.
- Strong sense of curiosity and willingness to challenge assumptions.
- Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills with cross-functional partners.
- A self-starter who can take initiative, experiment, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
In this role, you will:
- Drive discovery activities to understand user needs, motivations, and pain points.
- Translate research insights into design opportunities, concepts, and prototypes.
- Drive ideation and conceptual exploration, turning abstract ideas into tangible experiences.
- Create end-to-end design deliverables from low-fidelity explorations to polished UI designs.
- Partner with designers (product and content), researchers, product managers, engineers, data analysts, and commercial partners to shape the product and define solutions.
- Conduct and analyse user research and usability testing to validate design decisions.
- Iterate based on data, insight, and feedback.
- Contribute to shaping design culture and process within the Upstream team and the broader design function.
- Push creative boundaries while balancing feasibility and simplicity in a complex domain.
