Assistant Management Accountant to join one of our longstanding clients, a growing organisation based in Shoreham-by-Sea.

This newly created role would suit an experienced finance professional looking to broaden their knowledge and progress towards a Management Accountant position.

You do not need to be the finished article, as the business is open to candidates who are studying AAT, ACCA or CIMA, as well as those who are qualified by experience.

You will receive ongoing mentoring and gain exposure to management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, VAT, statutory reporting and finance systems development within a supportive Finance team.

  • The Requirements
  • At least three years' experience within an Accounts or Finance role
  • Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: Purchase Ledger/Sales Ledger/Banking/Cash Book/Month-end accounting
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP and data analysis
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ambition to develop a long-term career within finance
  • AAT Level 4 qualified or currently studying
  • Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA
  • Experience preparing management accounts
  • Payroll or VAT experience
  • Experience supporting statutory audits
  • Experience using cloud-based accounting software
  • Experience within a multi-company environment
  • Involvement in finance system implementation or process improvement

The Role

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
  • Produce management information, KPI reports and financial analysis
  • Complete balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
  • Support purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking and cash book activities
  • Assist with payroll, expenses, pensions and VAT preparation
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the annual audit
  • Support year-end processes and statutory reporting
  • Assist with the implementation and development of a cloud-based finance system
  • Support data migration, testing and user acceptance testing
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and efficiencies
  • Provide support and holiday cover across the wider Finance team
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism
