As a Software Engineer II, you will lead the design and development of complex features and components for our cloud-based SaaS platform. You will architect and implement scalable solutions, provide technical guidance to other engineers, and contribute to the evolution of our technology stack. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to take on greater technical responsibility and ownership.
You will work remotely from Vietnam as part of a cross-functional Scrum team. In this role, you will contribute directly to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of our software products. You will collaborate closely with fellow engineers, QA specialists, and product managers in Vietnam, as well as with the wider engineering team in Leicester in the United Kingdom and other international stakeholders.
This role requires hands-on experience with both backend and frontend development, with a particular emphasis on PHP and the Laravel framework. Familiarity with modern frontend technologies such as React, Vue.js, or AngularJS is also highly valued. You should be comfortable working in an agile environment, writing clean and maintainable code, and continuously learning new technologies and best practices.
What You'll Do:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain complex features and components for cloud-based SaaS applications.
- Lead the development of medium to large-sized features, taking ownership from design to deployment and monitoring.
- Architect and implement solutions that are scalable, resilient, and maintainable.
- Proactively identify and address technical debt and architectural improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers, including code reviews and mentoring.
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define and refine technical requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, including performance and scalability problems.
- Contribute to the selection and evaluation of new technologies and tools.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent and 2-4 years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience with e-commerce and specific experience of Shopify is a plus.
- Expert-level proficiency in programming principles (e.g. OOP, functional) and design patterns (e.g. DRY, SOLID, IoC).
- Expert-level proficiency in at least one frontend framework (React, Angular, or Vue) and experience with advanced UI concepts.
- Expert-level experience with backend languages such as PHP and other web-based object-oriented languages, using frameworks like Laravel (preferred).
- Proficient in front-end technologies including AngularJS, React, and Vue.js.
- Proven experience leading small to medium-sized development teams in an Agile environment.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), including a deep understanding of cloud-native architectures.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and strong spoken and written English required.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
- Experience with security best practices for web applications.
- Proficiency in prompt engineering and experience in using AI coding assistant tool in day-to-day work.
