The Opportunity

Downer’s Energy & Utilities team is seeking applications for an Electrical Apprenticeship in Hexham NSW, starting on mid-January 2026. As part of this role, you’ll be part of a dedicated crew responsible for constructing electrical assets in a controlled workshop environment. You’ll gain practical experience assembling switchboards, wiring switch rooms, and learning essential electrical trade skills from qualified professionals. This role provides a strong foundation in electrical systems and manufacturing processes, with long-term career prospects. As part of Downer, you will also have the opportunity to see not only experience the Hexham workshop, but other sites and projects as part of Downer’s Energy & Utilities sector.

About You

  • Hands-on experience building switchboards, switch rooms, and other electrical assets

  • Drivers Licence
  • Completed Year 10 or higher (Year 12 preferred) with Pass marks in Maths & English
  • Willingness to travel to different projects / sites as part of the apprenticeship programme
  • Keen to learn and work in a hands-on, workshop-based environment
  • Committed to safety, teamwork, and high-quality workmanship
