The Director of Engineering for Account Products is a member of the Engineering leadership team, responsible for leading the Account Products domain in conjunction with their Product counterpart. Overseeing a cluster of multiple Engineering teams, with ~20 Engineers, Engineering Managers and a Staff Engineer, the Director is tasked with innovating within a growing business area, while also supporting many of ClearBank’s other clusters due to the central nature of the team’s account-based capabilities. The Director must be a proponent of sensible, agile delivery principles and understand how to operate in a modern product-led software development environment, with teams focused on outcomes while operating in a regulated environment. In close partnership with other functions, the Director will play a pivotal role in maintaining and evolving the ClearBank proposition and driving commercial growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technology strategy and planning, execution and delivery for the Account Products cluster.
- Manage and develop Engineering Managers and senior Individual Contributors (such as Staff Engineers), supporting their growth and success of their teams.
- Drive cross-functional partnerships and collaborate with Product Leadership to create a best-in-class technology environment for successful delivery.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and build robust and scalable technology solutions, overseeing the development and maintenance of products and applications to meet customer needs, business requirements and industry standards.
- Plan and execute technology projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget, coordinating resources, managing risks, and monitoring progress.
- Drive a culture of semi-autonomous teams that promote transparency in their work using open communication, clear metrics and following industry best practices.
Experience Required
- Extensive experience leading people managers and technology teams.
- Demonstrated technology judgments and commercially viable decision-making.
- Experience managing high scale 24hr technology platforms.
- Experience within accounts or a closely related domain.
- Ability to independently solve business problems and delegate effectively.
- Commitment to using best practices to deliver and improve products, services and processes.
- Good knowledge of cloud computing and modern build and deployment practices.
- Impactful communication skills, including managing stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of risk management processes and delivering software in regulated environments preferable.
